I've always got a few projects going at once, and I'm excited to share what I've been working on lately! Each of these projects has something a little different that caught my eye, from interesting techniques to fun color combinations. Hopefully, you'll find a little inspiration for your own knitting, whether you're looking for your next project or something fun to make for the holidays. If you're taking one of my classes, be sure to check out my YouTube tutorials for extra help in between classes. And don't forget to follow along on social media @thrivewithewe for more WIP Wednesday updates. Happy knitting! 🧶💙
I am absolutely loving working on Night Lights by Drea Renee Knits, Andrea Mowry, which is a fun and interesting side to side shawl. I saw the sample at the Chick That Knitz booth when I was at Nash Yarn Fest in March and fell in love with the texture and two tonal dynamic. I ended up purchasing A Chick That Knitz Merino DK in the Obsidian color way to use for color A in the pattern and Schoppel’s Zauerball DK in Dusty Sage as color B and am LOVING how the two are working together. I am also loving the construction of this pattern where, alternating slipping the stitches of each color for three rows in the same columns creates a fascinating texture color play and how her increases factor into this brilliantly. Check out my WIP Wednesdays @thrivewithewe on all social media platforms for updates on this and my YouTube channel for a detailed video on how the increases are creatively factored into the slip stitch dynamic.
This wonderful mosaic coasters pattern, Tiny Gifts by Caro in the City, includes four motifs, two of which are winter holiday focused. The pattern is a free download on Ravelry and I chose this pattern set for my Knitting Mosaic Coasters class which started on 11/2/26 since the patterns are a great way to learn Mosaic color work. Two of the patterns, Going Dottie and O Tannenbaum are a great place for knitters new to Mosaic to start since you are only slipping stitches every other two rows and knitting two rows in between. Check my YouTube channel for tutorial videos that I am doing for my students to refer to in between the in person classes.
I couldn’t help starting to knit a log cabin blanket after watching Ann and Kay’s Knit Stars season 10 class on log cabin knitting where I got hooked. They featured Fussy Cuts as one of the many samples they showed during that class and I loved the watercolor like blend of using an ombre yarn. The pattern calls for Noro Silk Garden but I decided to use Knit Picks Chroma in the Frosted Window color way and Cascade yarns 200 Superwash in Alaska Sky for the block panes color. Since you are knitting in garter and making small blocks, this is an ideal traveling project and one that you can do while watching TV, talking to others, etc. I am absolutely loving knitting it! Stay tuned for my YouTube video series on how to long cabin where I’ll take you through each step of these squares.
